Ayrton Senna born in Brazil in 1960 - the son of a wealthy Brazilian landowner he quickly developed an interest in motor racing and raced karts throughout his youth.

He arrived in Europe in 1981 entering British formula ford 1600, formula 2000 and British F3 winning all of these. He first entered Formula 1 in 1984 and won his first grand prix at Estoril in 1985.

On the track Senna could be ruthless,, showing extreme determination and precision. In 1994 he was tragically killed while racing for Williams at Imola.

Senna is regarded by many as one of the greatest racers ever . His death in 1994 is still mourned by fans all over the world and he remains one of the most beloved Formula 1 personalities.
